BMI Calculator
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a screening tool. It does not replace a medical evaluation and is one of several factors considered in bariatric surgery candidacy.
Per the 2022 ASMBS/IFSO indications, BMI ≥ 35 regardless of comorbidities, or BMI 30–34.9 with metabolic disease (e.g. type 2 diabetes), may indicate bariatric surgery candidacy after a full medical evaluation.
BMI does not capture body composition, fat distribution or metabolic status. Final decisions are made only after physician assessment and necessary tests.
